Interestingly enough, this feature comes at a time for me where exhaustion is setting in and I'm questioning whether I can really do everything I have on my heart to do. Then I'm rererading Theresa's interview, and her advice really hit me. I needed that word sis! Thank you for letting the tribe experience all that you have to offer, both in books and inspiration. Y'all enjoy this feature by my good sis, urban fiction author, Theresa Wheaton aka Thea! - Meek
How long have you been writing professionally?
3 years
What made you start writing?
I always had a love for writing and wanted to see if I could write a book. Once I started I didn't want to stop
What was the hardest thing you've had to deal with thus far?
Hmm... just staying true to myself and knowing who I am as a person. I had to learn that not everyone will like you and some will judge you based on others' experiences.
How did you overcome that?
I’m still working to overcome it but what I am doing is focusing on the positive and not the negative.
What's been your biggest accomplishment?
In 2018, I put out 20 plus books which was amazing. There were things I messed up on but it was a great learning tool for me.
What or who inspires you in business?
Authoress Latisha because her work ethic is impeccable. She has skills in different trades and is a great editor. Her books are top-notch so if I can get as good as she is one day that will be amazing. Times where I want to give up, it's her work ethic that inspires me to keep pushing.
What advice do you have for women looking to become entrepreneurs like you?
Things will not always be easy. There will be days that you want to quit but you have to keep putting in the work to get where you want to be. Never compare where you are at to what another author is doing because you never know what it took to get there. Focus on the people that support your business and not those that don't. There are days I have to remind myself of this stuff. If running your own business was easy everyone would be out here doing it but if you love what you do keep going. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
